Robert Wadlow aged 21 c.1939

Robert Pershing Wadlow (born February 22, 1918-died  July 15,1940) was an American giant and the tallest recognized person in therecorded history,he reached a great height of 8 foot 11.1 inches (2.72m) weighed 439 lb (199 kg) when last measured some time ago before his death.Even when he reached his adulthood,his height didn't stop growing,this was because hyperplasia of his pituitary gland.

Early Height GrowthEdit

Robert Pershing Wadlow was born to Addie Johnson and Harold Wadlow in Alton on February 22, 1918,he was the eldest of the five children born in the family.During elementary school, the school had to make a special desk for him because of his size.At the age of 4.5 he over took his 5"6 mother as he was 5"6.5 that time.Then he over took his 5"11.5 dad by reaching the height of 6"0 at only 6 years of age,however he grew only a inch when he reached 7 and grew a inch again when reaching 8,it looked like if his height was gonna stop soon,but at 9 he turned 3 inches tall and was 180 pounds,he was able to carry his father up the stairs to the second floor. When he graduated from highschool,he stood at 8"3.

Later Years and DeathEdit

Wadlow size started causing him disadvantage in walking and he soon required leg braces to walk,he was never seen using a wheel chair.Wadlow was a celebrity in the U.S.,he was well-known owing to his 1936 U.S. tour with the Ringling Brothers Circus and his 1938 promotional tour with the INTERCO.He continued going to public appearances and events.He had 37AA size shoes which costed a expensive 100 dollars at that time.On 1939,he suprassed John Rogan,suprassing him by only a half a inch.On July 4, 1940, during a  appearance at the Manistee National Forest Festival, a faulty brace irritated his ankle, causing a blister and subsequent infection. Doctors treated him with a blood transfusion and emergency surgery, but his condition started getting worsened, and on July 15, 1940, he died in his sleep at age 22.Approximatley 5,000 people attended his funeral and he was buried in a ten-foot long hole and his coffin required 12 people to carry it.On June 27,1940 his body was measured to be 8 foot 11.1 inches and he became the tallest known man.
